Sleep...My family and I love to travel, and we love our sleep!

 

For many years, husband and I discussed our dismay that most of our appliances and electronic devices (in our house, in hotels, the RV, at the homes of friends and family, or even our baby products) had bright lights or displays on them or they beeped!

I had a washing machine that sang a little song when I began a wash cycle; then it played a separate tune when the cycle was complete. The machine wanted my acknowledgement and maybe even my approval! This noise prevented me from starting a load of laundry in the morning before the children awoke.  It was too loud. Another time, after much research effort, I bought a series of three coffee pots, looking for only one with no beep notification when the brewing was complete. There were not product details or markings on the box or on the item's website to let the customer know if the pot beeped or not.  I don't enjoy the beeps and tunes.

My husband has a similar regard for bright light displays. We're different sides of the same coin! When I wake up in the mornings, before the rest of the family, the kitchen is draped in kitchen towels. One is covering the coffee pot's brilliant display of the time. Another covers the oven's display of...the time. The third covers the microwave's display of, yes, the time. These appliances are vigilant and ready to do their jobs! We laugh.

This discussion, and many like it, is how we got here.

One day, I was inspired to research the patent process. A series of serendipitous events led me to get a patent for the certification mark for Sensorysilent. I was inspired, in what felt like God speaking to me in a dream, to begin this path. I found out shortly after this  that my next-door neighbor had already been through the patent process successfully, AND he had a patent! My other neighbor is a graphic artist, and an amazing author happened to be offering mentor sessions in marketing. Super-serendipity!

We want a quiet, dark bed-time routine with products that are dark and quiet, or that have the ability to be fully dimmed and silenced. We also need marking on the packaging and product that clearly indicates that the device or appliance has a function to turn off those two features. That's our goal at Sensorysilent. Clear communication regarding product information to the customer.
